UX/UI Design

I like to take a creative, collaborative approach to problem solving. I prefer to start with research; I want to understand the big picture first. Who are the users? What do they want and need? What are the business and brand goals? Who are our competitors? What are the technical constraints? What are our assets? What do we need to meet deadlines and budget constraints?

The design process is iterative. I like to deliver high-fidelity sketches, mockups and prototypes at least weekly and get feedback from all stakeholders. I prefer to take an Agile, Lean UX approach and I enjoy working closely with product owners and developers. This approach integrates design into the Agile development process and allows the team to get frequent, useful input from users. It also helps designers to quickly identify and validate design patterns. It's important to keep learning and moving fast in a constantly changing world.

The role of UX/UI Designer is fluid. When there are people available to fill the roles of User Researcher, Visual Designer, Prototyper, Project Manager, Information Architect, Developer, QA Tester, Copywriter, and so on, I can partner with a team or business owner and focus on creative deliverables. When resources are tight, my role can shift and I can take on multiple responsibilities. Every company and every project is different, and that's what makes it fun!
